The advantage of hydroponics is that you can use different types of substrate: potting soil, coconut fiber, perlite, rockwool, vermiculite and various combinations of these. The optimum combination is a mix of 50% coco fiber (or soil) and 50% perlite. Thanks to its very low density, perlite allows maximum aeration of your subtrate.

When using for the first time, water your pots for the first time from the top (for 1 week) to develop the roots right down to the bottom of the pot. Always use a filter between the reservoir and your hoses to block out any impurities.
