Soft water has an EC level (Electro Conductivity, an estimate of the amount of nutrient salts present in the form of ions in the nutrient solution) of less than 0.4.
Normal water has an EC level between 0.4 and 0.7, and contains calcium and magnesium (calmag) as well as bicarbonate to stabilize pH.
Hard water has an EC level above 0.8. It contains more calcium and magnesium than the plant can handle. When growing plants, the best way to treat this type of water is to use a reverse osmosis filter, then mix your hard water with the reverse osmosis water, until you reach an EC level of 0.4. Or, more easily, you can use 100% reverse osmosis water, then use CANNA CALMAG AGENT to increase your EC level to 0.4.
