What is the difference between soft and hard water?

Soft water has an EC level (Electro Conductivity, an estimation of the richness of nutrient salts present in the form of ions in the nutrient solution.) lower than 0.4.

Normal water has an EC level between 0.4 and 0.7, it contains calcium and magnesium (calmag) and bicarbonate to stabilize the pH.

Hard water has an EC level higher than 0.8. It contains more calcium and magnesium than the plant can handle. When growing plants, the best way to treat this type of water is to use a reverse osmosis filter, then mix your hard water with the osmosis water, until you reach an EC level of 0.4. Or, more easily, you can use 100% reverse osmosis water, then use CANNA CALMAG AGENT to increase your EC level to 0.4.
