It is very easy, if you use the Bluelab EC Truncheon Tester to read your solution.
Dip the probe 1 to 2 minutes into the solution and it will reach the same temperature as the solution. The reading is indicated when the light flashes. Calibration of the tester is not required.

During a culture, it is essential to know beforehandcisit is essential to know in advance the nutrient values that feed your plants.
To take a reading of your solution, simply place the head of the Truncheon probe in the solution for 1 to 2 minutes to adjust the temperature of the BlueLab tester with that of the solution. Then remove it from the solution and put it back in to take the EC or CF or ppm reading of your solution. Finally rinse the probe after use in fresh clean water (at least once a week) to ensure accurate EC values.
No calibration of the tester is necessary. Also very convenient for stirring your nutrient tank.
Precautions for use:
The instrument is also precis as the probe is clean!!! Cleaning the probe is one of the most important factors when owning any Bluelab tester. If the probe is contaminated or dirty, it affects the accuracy of the displayed value. The surface of the probe is where the instrument takes the reading from the solution. The information is sent back from the probe into the electronic brain of the instrument. A calculation is then made in the processor (or microcomputer instruments depending on the BlueLab models used) and the reading is then displayed.
Regular cleaning of the probe or probes of the BlueLab testers is a very easy task and prolongs the life of the probes.
