Growing Guide
Soil maintenance: rich, moist soil. Loosen the soil to a depth of 20 cm before sowing with an organic fertilizer (rich in humus).
Sowing: 0.5 cm deep in a pot or in the ground in a row with 20 cm between plants. Too much watering during the emergence causes a melting of seedlings.
Emergence: in 3 to 4 days in soil at 18°C.
Watering: water 1 to 2 times per week.
Harvesting: pick the leaves as you need them.
Storage: freeze fresh leaves or dry them in bunches upside down and put in jars.
Origin: the basil, also known as "Royal Herb", is native of India. Its name is of Latin origin "Oza" which means "smell".
Advice from La Semence Bio® : cut 3 cm above the ground so that it can go up : by watering regularly you will be able to make 2 cuts, and make new stems grow. Plant basil between tomato plants, as it has a repulsive effect against aphids and mosquitoes.
