Family: Fabaceae (legumes)
Latin name : Phaseolus vulgaris L.
Genus type : reproducible seeds
Weight : 50 g
Sowing and harvesting schedule :
Soil maintenance: light and well worked soil.
Exposure : sunny, sheltered from the wind.
Sowing : 2 to 3 cm deep, in rows 50 cm apart, one seed every 5 cm or in stacks of 5 seeds every 20 cm. The bean germinates at a temperature higher than 14°C. Hoe regularly on the surface and 10 days after emergence and stub the plant.
Emergence: in 9 to 12 days.
Watering: water copiously before sowing and after emergence. Keep the soil moist after the young seedlings emerge, during development and during fruiting. Avoid watering with too much calcium.
Excessive water and wet soil before the seedlings emerge can cause seed rot. Conversely, leaves wilt and beans have more threads when they lack water.
Harvesting:harvest 2 to 3 times a week.
Storage : one week in the crisper.
Origin: beans come from Central America and the Andes.
