COURGETTE Gold Rush
Cucurbita pepo L.
Description
The zucchini Gold rush produces long fruits of a beautiful golden yellow, regular and straight. Its gustatory quality is exceptional!
Precocious. Length of the fruit from 20 to 25 cm.
Vigorous and compact plant (not runny).
Cultivation guide
Before sowing, loosen the soil on 30 cm. Sunny exposure and sheltered from the wind.
Sowing: 3.5 cm deep in 2 to 3-seed stacks.
Thin out to leave only one plant every 90 cm and 130 cm between rows.
Emergence: in 6 to 8 days in soil at 14°C.
Plantation at the stage first leaves until 3 to 4 leaves.
Sowing and harvesting dates :
- Under shelter (greenhouse) :
Sowing : February (South), March (North).
Harvest: from April (South), from July (North).
Under shelter the temperatures must be of : 20-22°C during the day, and 16-18°C at night.
- In the open champ sowing :
Sowing : mid-April (South) May (North).
Harvest: from July (South),
mid-July (North).
Cultivation practice
Sow the seeds vertically, with the pointed part upwards.
The fruits are low in calories, and very digestible.
Avoid watering the foliage, you will avoid the development of powdery mildew.
You should water early in the morning (especially in the summer) in order to encourage fruit setting (avoid flower drop).
The regular picking of the fruits allows a constant rise of the bloom.
From sowing to planting, it takes 3 to 4 weeks.
