Cultivation practice
Beets require rich, deeply loosened soil that is well fumee.
The seeds are enclosed in a corky glomerulus.
This glomerule will give several plants.
It will be necessary to thin out after having sown in place to 3-4 cm of depth. Thin to 10-15 cm depending on the variety.
In order to avoid having forked roots, make sure to bury the well-composted manure in the fall.
Beet is sensitive to Boron deficiency.
Beet should be eaten raw (grated) in order to keep all its nutritional properties.
The latest can be stored in sand (in cool, dry and ventilated places: silo or cellar).
To do this, cut the foliage flush with the collar, and shorten the tapered part of the root.
It is a root vegetable that is sensitive to frost.
