Culture: Rich soil. The fresh organic manures cause root burns and the excess of moisture a rotting.

Sowing: at 2 cm depth in box then transplant or sow in full ground by keeping only one plant every 5 cm.

Emergence: in 10 to 15 days.

Depth of sowing: from 1,5 to 2 cm.

Density of plantation: 15x30 cm (35-40 seeds to the linear meter).

Sowing and planting dates :
- Biennial crop : direct sowing to harvesting in 200 to 220 days, from sowing to
planting 40 days, sowing in late summer/autumn, harvesting in spring.
- Annual crop: direct sowing to harvest 100 to 140 days, sowing to
planting 40 to 70 days. Sowing in late winter/spring, harvesting spring/summer-
fall.

Harvest stage: when leaves are dry.
Storage in a dry, ventilated and well ventilated place.

Cultivation practice
The onion belongs to the lily family.
The onion needs a minimum day length (photoperiod) for the formation of its bulb.
This threshold is different according to the varieties (from 12 to 16 H).
Temperatures above 18°C trigger bulb swelling, conversely, low temperatures initiate vegetative growth and the emission of floral stems (going to seed).
Weed and hoe regularly.

The advice and suggestions are given only as an indication and consequently, do not include a guarantee of harvest.
