Features:
Some basic rules must be respected during the installation to have ideal conditions, guarantee good water quality and have a functioning biotope.
The ideal pond consists of several zones with different depths. The ideal depth for the deep water zone is 100 to 150 cm, so that the water does not heat up too quickly in the summer, so that it does not freeze during the cold winters and so that the fish can withdraw into the deeper zones.
Here the depth is 30 to 50 cm. This zone can be relatively wide, making it easy to observe the animal world. Many plants feel comfortable in this zone.
With a depth of up to 30 cm, it is suitable for abundant planting, steep banks can be concealed by planting plants in our grow beds and irrigation bags.
1. Shape:
After deciding on the location and shape of the pond, mark the contours. A garden hose and a few wooden stakes will help. You can also mark the wetlands and shallow areas in this way. During this phase, corrections can still be made without any problem.
2. Digging :
With vertical spade strokes, proceed to the final marking. Remove the layers of soil little by little. The swampy and shallow areas will be covered later with a layer of gravel or substrate Ubbinkit is important to take this into account when clearing the area. It is particularly important that the edges of the pond are level (e.g. with a spirit level).
3. The foundation:
The next step is to remove all sharp objects and roots from the ground. A layer of sand should then be laid to protect the cover. We also recommend pond felt Ubbinka particularly resistant and rot-proof synthetic material.
4. Laying the liner:
The pond liner is unfolded and pulled over the pond. Lay the liner all around, letting it extend 30 to 50 cm. If you now fill the pond with water, the cover will slide into place and gradually move into the correct position. To prevent the pond from losing water unnecessarily, install a so-called capillary dam: the liner at the edge is not simply laid flat and covered with soil, where the water could then easily drain away, but rather placed in an upright position and cut off slightly above the soil. The top edge of the tarp should always be higher than the highest water level.
5. Bank landscaping:
When landscaping the bank area, it is advisable to use the cultivation beds Ubbinkwoven nylon or coir, as well as irrigation bags Ubbinkmade of coir, with pockets in which the plants are installed to hang them in the pond. These culture beds and irrigation bags are fixed in the ground with hooks. After some time, once the plants have taken root, the edges of the liner will no longer be visible.
